Having an AI Code Editor is mandatory in today's world.
Last weekend, I was talking to a friend who's a Staff DevOps Lead at a Tech firm.
He hadn't tried any of the AI Code Editors yet and said he was hesitantβmostly because he thought editors wouldn't know the Context of his codebase as he does and also they can't keep up with his brain π§ , he joked.
So, very confidently, I showed him Cursor AI. And to my surprise, Cursor really sucked at remembering context. Plus, it took Cursor about 3 MINUTES !!! to come back with a response π
.
We then switched to Augment Code.
βAugment Code performed way better; the response was instant β‘, and it was really, really good at remembering the context of the entire codebase. We felt like we were pair-programming with a Principal Software Engineer π€―.
If my friend had tried Augment alone, the benefit might not have been as obvious. But, the fast response time and its ability to keep track of the ENTIRE codebase? That was a lightbulb moment π‘ and an instant dopamine kick for us π₯.
So, How does Augment Code remember everything? Augment prioritizes Code awareness and keeps a real-time index of the codebase - versus a 10-minute delayed index.
βAugment works well with VSCode, JetBrains, Vim, and NeoVim and they offer a free 30-day trial.
